Butterfly Blue: Dramatic Colorful Eye (MAC Blue Brown and Shimmermoss)

If you love the more dramatic side of nature, there are few things as bright and multi-faceted as insect wings. This look is a little reminiscent of blue butterfly wings, but instead of pairing it with black, I wanted to pair it with a duo-chromatic brown with a sheen that reflected the same tone of teal-blue.

Colors used:
- A brown cream base: MAC Constructivist Paint Pot (or any brown cream shadow)
- A duochrome blue-brown: MAC Blue Brown Pigment (Club shadow would work as well)
- A rich metallic blue-green: MAC Shimmermoss, MAC Parrot, Milani Just Perfect, L’oreal HiP duo in Showy work equally well

Step 1: First apply eye shadow primer all over the lids, then a brown base on the outer half of the eyes. Run it along the lower lash line as well.

Step 2: Gently pack the blue brown pigment over the brown base you applied earlier, and smoke the edges outwards so you get soft wings.

Step 3: Pack the rich blue-green from the inner corners outwards, blending slightly into the blue. Don’t take it out too far as you don’t want to muddy up the colors. They should fuse into each other but still look like 2 distinct shades.

Step 4: Finish with a dab of pale blue shimmer along the inner corners (optional; this heightens the contrast between the 2 main shades, by giving the blue-green a little more of a brightness), then curl lashes and apply mascara to complete the look. Try Coastal Scents Interfine Blue mica.)
